National Eligibilty Cum Entrance Test (NEET) Single Entrance Exam For MBBS Admission

In India, if the student completes their higher secondary education and dreams to become a doctor they have to attend ā€˜n’ number of medical entrance exam for various colleges.

There by attending ā€˜n’ number of exam creates stress among students and it also waste lot of money and time.

The Medical Council of India (MCI) keeping the welfare of the students in mind have taken an important and vital decision of single window system for admission i.e. there will be only one medical entrance test which is taken as base for admitting students in medical colleges throughout India.

This decision is welcomed by students who are future doctors. This single window entrance will be named as National eligibility Cum Entrance test (NEET).

Every year there will be lot of petitions filed in the court due to the conflicts of multiple entrance test. So the MCI came up with this idea to resolve all conflicts happening due to multiple entrance exam.

This decision came up in the petition filed by Ms.Simran Jain in an apex court.

The advocate of Ms.Simran Jain is Mr.A.D.N. Rao, during the hearing session, the MCI proposes this single window entrance exam idea before the Judges Mr.R.V Raveendran and HL Gokhale.

This proposal was accepted by the government which was conveyed in the court by Mr.Malhotra who is Additional Solicitor General.

This exam will be in practice from 2011 onwards for MBBS & DBS courses offered by 542 colleges across India which has a total intake of 31,000 medical graduates every year.

The NEET exam will be held in the month of January/February every year across throughout India.

The examination pattern will be available in the website during the month of August.
